Overview

We are looking to add a Senior Cost Engineer to our PMO & Project Controls Consultancy team to act as the first point of contact for all Cost Engineering activities. This Senior Cost Engineer position will be a home based, hybrid role but will require site / client office attendance as and when required. Eligibility for Security Clearance is essential (UK National or a UK resident for 5+ years), and a UK Driving Licence will be highly beneficial as some projects are in remote locations. As an experienced Senior Cost Engineer, you will have detailed experience in all aspects of cost engineering and be able to work under your own cognisance creating a delivery plan in line with company procedures.

We are a growing consultancy team working on a variety of contracts within multiple sectors, undertaking short-term or long-term commissions to address a variety of customer needs.

Role scope: Responsible for providing Project Control solutions and services to clients and contributing to process, procedure, and tool improvements within the function.

Responsibilities

  • Be commercially focused, confident in running your own project as well as working effectively within a team.
  • Undertake short-term or long-term commissions to address a variety of customer needs across multiple sectors.
  • Have a track record of cost management at pre and post contract; work on contracts through the development cycle to delivery through the construction phase where possible.
  • Control, monitor, analyse and report cost-related aspects for designated projects within a portfolio.
  • Ensure all cost and contract transactions on a project are understood and managed appropriately.
  • Continuously monitor Project Risk and Change status to maintain current forecast.
  • Liaise with project team members and contractors regarding progress and cost forecasting.
  • Monitor, control and analyse project cost information, identify variances, and present possible alternatives. Prepare reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s needs.
  • Challenge cost variances against the baseline plan with task leads/contractors and/or outside stakeholders as necessary to enable mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Understand the inter-relationship between time, cost and commercial aspects of the project lifecycle.
  • Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning).
  • Proficient in Earned Value Analysis interpretation.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience preparing reports and information.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera and SAP; experience with finance and project software.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Relevant degree or degree-level education.
  • Cross-sector experience (Water/Transport/Energy/Aviation/Defence & Nuclear).

Desirable

  • APM – Foundation/ Practitioner; APM Risk; Project Planning & Control Foundation/ Practitioner.
