This role offers the opportunity to shape the foundations of a cutting-edge AI and data platform in a rapidly scaling SaaS environment. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for building the pipelines, systems, and frameworks that fuel AI-powered features, directly impacting how users interact with the product. You'll focus on Python-first development, vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation, while collaborating across product and platform teams to ensure seamless integration. The position requires both technical excellence and a strategic mindset, as your work will set standards for data quality, performance, and reliability in AI workflows. This is a fully remote role, open to candidates physically based in EMEA.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to feed AI-driven features.
- Develop and optimize embeddings, vector databases, and RAG systems to support advanced AI applications.
- Experiment with and implement LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of data workflows into core services.
- Establish best practices for data quality, observability, and performance across AI workflows.
- Support the deployment and monitoring of Python-based AI services in production environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data or backend engineering, ideally within SaaS.
- Strong expertise in Python, with exposure to frameworks such as FastAPI, Pandas, or PyTorch/TensorFlow.
- Solid experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with embeddings and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS).
- Exposure to AI frameworks for RAG or orchestration (LangChain, etc.).
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and integrate pipelines into larger systems.
- Bonus: experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and workflow automation tools (Airflow, Dagster).
