Senior Data Engineer

Salary: Upto £60,000 per annum + Package
Regional Office Worker: Birmingham - Site based & Homeworking + Organised Travel to Birmingham required
The Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and systems. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth flow of data, optimise data processing and storage, and contribute to the development of scalable data solutions.
What you will be doing:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure the efficient collection, storage, and processing of large volumes of structured and unstructured data
* Collaborate with BI developers, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement robust data solutions.
* Optimise data storage and retrieval mechanisms for performance and scalability, including implementing data partitioning, indexing, and compression strategies.
* Implement data quality and data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
* Perform data modelling and schema design to support data analysis, reporting, and visualisation needs
* Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identify, and resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure data integrity and availability.
To be successful you require:
* Degree Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer
* Strong proficiency in Python and experience with data manipulation frameworks such as Apache Spark
* In-depth knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data modelling, and SQL
* Experience with cloud platforms including Azure Synapse and Fabric
* Proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines using technologies
* Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, and data integration techniques
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex data-related issues and propose effective solutions
* Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in an iterative development environment
