Senior Data Warehouse Engineer – Azure Synapse / Databricks / SQL / Python

Greenfield, long-term opportunity

A leading UK business has recently built a brand-new Azure Synapse Analytics data warehouse and is now looking for a hands-on engineer to take full ownership. This isn’t a team management role — it’s about being the go-to expert end-to-end: from ingesting new feeds and developing pipelines, to ensuring accuracy, governance, and unlocking the platform’s potential.

So far, much of the work has been outsourced — but the aim now is to bring it in-house, make it business-critical, and set the direction for a data-led future, with cloud migration and AI firmly on the roadmap.

What you’ll be doing

• Own, maintain, and evolve the Azure data warehouse.
• Design/manage data pipelines with Databricks, Python, SQL.
• Ensure data quality, GDPR compliance, and governance.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems as users adopt the platform.
• Extend reporting and dashboards (Power BI exists but can be enhanced).
• Work with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to deliver insight.

What we’re looking for

• Solid SQL, Python, and data modelling expertise.
• Proven track record in data engineering, ETL, and pipeline development.
• Hands-on problem solver — someone who enjoys doing, not just overseeing.
• Clear communicator, able to turn tech into business value.
