About The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will make an impact on the future of data-driven innovation by joining our dynamic, forward-thinking team. You’ll craft the data platforms, models, and pipelines that inform strategic decision-making for our customers and prepare data for use cases from simple analytics to Generative AI and Data Science. This role reports to our Principal Data Engineer.
Your Role
- Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with internal and customer stakeholders to understand business needs and produce high quality data products and assets.
- Create Success: Work with solution architects to build trusted customer relationships and lay the foundation for best practice data engineering.
- Leverage Expertise: Be a subject matter expert in data engineering; build well-structured data pipelines, models, transformations and tests.
- Share Experience: Support and mentor junior team members, stay current with trends, share insights via blogs and other media.
- Work in a Hybrid Environment: Participate in weekly in-person meetings at London or Bristol offices, with occasional travel to customer sites. Flexible remote/on-site work.
- Contribute to Accelerators: Help evolve Ascent’s data accelerators, patterns and metadata frameworks for rapid, effective solutions.
- Data Engineering architecture: Develop blueprints and guides for multi-client applicability.
- Pre-sales support: Provide a Data Engineering perspective in proposed solutions.
Your Skills
- Azure Data Engineering: Proven success as an Azure Data Engineer, able to consult, engineer and optimise customer data products and assets.
- Azure Data Products: Expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks; experience with Power BI, Microsoft Purview, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, etc.
- Azure: Understand core Azure infrastructure concepts and tools (Networks, Identity/Entra, ARM, BICEP, Terraform). Not required to be an expert.
- DevOps: Experience with CI/CD promotion from Dev to Prod using Fabric, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Versatile Experience: Working with varying organizations from SMC to Enterprise.
- Agile Methodologies: Commercial Agile experience desirable.
- Certification Preferred: Microsoft certifications advantageous.
- AI Aware: Understanding of Data Science and Generative AI beneficial but not required.
