Your purpose as Senior Design Engineer is to design and detail efficient landing gear systems for civil and military aircraft to meet demanding customer requirements. You will support the design and manufacturing of the landing gear systems across the whole life-cycle.

The future of aircraft engineering. Developed in the UK. As part of our Engineering team, you’ll work with experienced aerospace engineers on interesting projects, with opportunities to learn and progress as investment in the on-site team grows.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of concept to detail design throughout the life cycle of landing gear programmes
  • Support all aspects of product configuration
  • Use up-to-date technology including CAD, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, and data management systems
  • Design to meet exacting customer requirements and industry standards
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers
  • Interface with team members, chief engineers, programme management, manufacturing, and colleagues at other Safran sites
  • Work with manufacturing to reduce non-conformances on products
  • Coordinate with other sites to offload work packages
  • Mentor/coaching of junior team members

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Good knowledge of design and manufacturing processes, preferably aerospace-related
  • Fully conversant with traditional and computerised design and analysis methods
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • General computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience of CAD (CATIA V5)
  • Knowledge of configuration management
  • Previous aerospace experience
  • GD&T training
