Senior Design Engineer

A leading construction and engineering company is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to be based in Watford. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design of complex engineering projects, providing technical leadership and ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Primarily Temporary works with some permanent works.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering phases of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, project managers, and contractors
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure design integrity and resolve any technical issues
- Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and value engineering exercises
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership
- Proven experience in structural design engineering within the Civil Engineering industry
- Strong proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro)
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
