Overview

Due to continued growth, Mabey Hire is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join the engineering team in Glasgow (Hybrid). You will be responsible for producing and checking complex temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework. The role suits an experienced engineer with technical and commercial experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex temporary works designs for Groundworks or Propping and jacking schemes
  • Check medium to high complexity designs and drawing in accordance with BS5975:2019
  • Attend client meetings and carry out site visits
  • Review design briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required
  • Manage your own workload and support the team leaders in achieving the collective goals of the team
  • Identify training requirements and act as a mentor to Graduate Engineers, Design Engineers and Technicians
  • Provide technical training and guidance to members of the sales, engineering and operation teams
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director

About You

  • A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering
  • At least 5 years experience designing temporary works
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Experience in designing Groundworks, Formwork & Falsework or Propping
  • Good understanding of CDM 2015
  • Experience using AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT
  • Experience training and mentoring junior team members

We Would Also Love It If You Have

  • Experience checking Groundworks, Formwork & Falsework or Propping
  • Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment
  • Some on-site experience
  • Design of steel and concrete connections
  • Professional membership of ICE
