Supervision of less experienced engineering employees, engineering resource management and interviews.Position in OrganisationReporting to Principal Engineers with ultimate line management responsibilities being with the Chief Engineer within your disciplineReports to Principal Engineer, Team Leader or Department ManagerNormally supervises a design or project team of up to 5 engineering staff, although the team may be supplemented by staff from elsewhere.Responsible for the allocation of work and managing quality, progress and cost of the work carried out within the projectResponsible for managing project subcontractsRegularly interacts with clients and managers of other engineering disciplinesResponsible for communications within project team on your allotment of the projectKey AccountabilitiesDesign, Specification, Procurement, Supply/Manufacture Liaison, Installation, Acceptance Testing, Commissioning and Operator Training in Nuclear Engineering ProjectsLiaison with multi disciplinesTechnical ConsultancyProject Management including quality, progress and cost control including documentationSales Support and Customer careManage Contractors and Sub Contractors, Staff DevelopmentManage safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture, compliance with safety regulations (eg. CDM and CE marking), and the application of safety systemsQualificationsEssential for an EC&I Engineer:Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experienceA full UK driver’s licenceWorking towards Chartered Engineer status (where applicable)Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Nuclear industryDemonstrable competence in a design/delivery position within a project based environmentUnderstanding of design requirements to support nuclear safety casesSignificant experience in two or more of the following specific EC&I areas:Mechanical Handling (including Remote in-cell handling)Process InstrumentationFunctional Safety (to BS EN 61508/BS EN 61511)Machinery Safety (including BS EN 60204 and BS EN 13849)LV Distribution Systems (including experience in Trimble Pro-design)Experience of managing sub-contractsKnowledge of safety regulations including CDMExperience of checking design documentation including drawings and supporting calculationsExperience and/or ability of leading a technical team within a professional project delivery environmentOrganisation & Collaborations skillsDemonstrable expertise in working to tight deadlinesQuality & service driven attitudeHigh level of commercial awarenessExperience of leading design teamsDesirable for an EC&I Engineer:Chartered Engineer and candidates nearing chartership are preferred.
