Senior Engineer (Copy) role at Gateley Smithers Purslow. Full time position in Reigate.

Responsibilities

  • Use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
  • Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations
  • Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects
  • Preparation of reports, contract documents, management of tenders
  • Provide technical advice to clients
  • Obtain planning and/or buildings regulation approval
  • Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
  • Resolving design and development problems
  • Management of budget and project resources
  • Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
  • Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services
  • Promote the company’s services to secure projects and uphold Gateley Smithers Purslow brand
  • Assist the director with training and development of the engineering team
  • Provide supervision and support to Graduates and Engineers to promote knowledge and understanding
  • Inspection / supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion
  • Comply with the company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations

Qualifications and Skills

  • MEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering
  • Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures with awareness of latest statutory requirements, publications and guidelines
  • Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
  • Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large-scale projects
  • Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills
  • Ability to think methodically and manage projects
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
