We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Highways Design team based in Penrith. Location Penrith, Cumbria Hours 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us What will you be responsible for? As a Senior Engineer, you'll work within the Civil Engineering team, supporting them on the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework contract, producing highways designs, drawings, reports, and documentation in accordance with the brief, timescales, and budgetary allocation.
Preparing preliminary and detailed designs for local and national authorities, supporting the Principal Engineer on various design duties, including design schedules, health, safety, and welfare documentation in accordance with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations 2015, and creating design drawings and related documents. Delivering technical and feasibility studies that meet client specifications. Assessing risks, materials, and costs, ensuring compliance with Kier's and clients' guidelines and regulations, including permits and safety, conducting on-site investigations, and analyzing data such as maps, reports, tests, and drawings. Contributing to technical excellence and innovation, providing innovative solutions to engineering problems, complying with Kier's SHEMS and KDTS IMS, setting delivery targets, and mentoring junior staff. Maintaining good relations with clients and authorities, attending meetings, promoting health and safety, and setting a good example for colleagues.

Are a member of a professional body, with IEng / CEng status or working towards it. Have competent and strong knowledge of civil engineering design software, e.g., AutoCAD.
