Pettigrew Recruitment Group is keen to find the right individual for this exciting Senior Engineer role with one of the industry’s leading volume house builders based in Edinburgh. With a rise of new outlets opening across the region, this is a crucial technical post to support the business.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, Senior Engineer duties will include:

Evaluating reports and providing cost effective design solutions for land appraisals and land purchase. Resolving engineering issues as part of the planning application process and the discharge of conditions. Managing the design of ground works and infrastructure, including roads, sewers, and utilities. Maintaining a continuous process of evaluation of consultant’s performance and design capabilities to ensure that they meet deadlines, whilst following best practice, and always with value engineering at the forefront of design. Being on site and leading on relevant technical meetings relating to the procurement and approval of site infrastructure. Establishing good working relationships with Site staff and all departments to ensure schemes are constructed as intended. Securing various Section Agreements, S38, S104 and S278 etc. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with Local Authorities and other external bodies. Progressing adoption for roads and sewers on closed legacy developments. Preparing and monitoring Pollution Prevention Plans. Ensuring familiarity with Safety, Health and Environmental policies and complying with employee responsibilities.

Key skills sought include:

Extensive experience in a similar Engineering role in the housebuilding sector is highly desirable. Qualified to HNC / Degree level or equivalent. Knowledge of the latest engineering regulatory requirements in housebuilding. Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing and approving technical documentation. Good communication and observation skills. Ability to prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs. Good literacy skills in AutoCAD and use of Microsoft Excel is essential.

Whilst this is a primarily office based role, there will be travel within the area to development sites when required.
