Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to work our Advanced Reinforcement Manufacturing Facility, in Avonmouth (Bristol)

The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services.  Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.

Responsibilities & Objectives:

  • Approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring public safety and third-party approvals.
  • Help prepare environmental procedures to meet legal and contractual requirements.
  • Review and adjust tolerances and construction methods for compliance.
  • Determine and implement appropriate control methods and train staff in dimensional control.
  • Ensure ITPs meet quality requirements and audit subcontractor procedures.
  • Address non-conformances, close NCRs, and manage quality assurance documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to project quality procedures.
  • Track and document client change requests and related abortive work.
  • Assist the project engineer with information updates as required.
  • Assist project engineer with materials, products, and systems as needed.
  • Challenge existing methods, evaluate alternatives, and push for improvements.
  • Drive software development, 3D modeling, and value engineering to enhance productivity, safety, and quality.
  • Approve and improve method statements for complex, high-risk tasks.
  • Produce design briefs and ensure compliance as Temporary Works Inspector or Coordinator.
  • Apply standard designs to temporary works systems.
  • Review models, guide detailers, and lead a Digital Engineering team.
  • Manage external teams, approve drawings, and ensure design compliance with project requirements.
  • Provide value engineering solutions and understand product handling, storage, and transport needs.
  • Capture and share knowledge to improve processes and capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
  • Circa 6 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
  • Eligible to work in the UK / valid UK visa
