Our engineering teams, located in New Malden, UK , and Hamburg, Germany , work closely together to develop and maintain a wide range of navigation products, with an ambitious roadmap for future innovations. We are currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Engineering Department in New Malden. This role will play a key part in our radar sensor development team, focusing on firmware and embedded software development for maritime navigation systems. Key Responsibilities include: Work in the Hardware team to develop firmware on SoC platforms for new and existing products. Take ownership and responsibility for current and future design for developed SoC platforms. Collaborate closely with the Embedded Software and System Test teams during system integration activities. Maintain and improve FPGA development processes, workflows, and tools. Work autonomously in a focused, agile team, contributing high-quality results from the outset. About You Were looking for a motivated and detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong technical foundation. Ideal candidates will have: Deep understanding of System on Chip (SoC) based design and build environment. Experience with HDL coding and test benching (VHDL, Verilog). Proficiency in software languages, C (or C++), with additional languages considered useful. Knowledge of Bash, TCL, or Python. Ability to understand and capture requirements to develop solutions and create professional technical documentation. Experience with Vivado is required; Xilinx (AMD) preferred. Familiarity with other FPGA vendors' tools is a plus. Knowledge of peripheral buses like I2C, SPI. Experience with AXI bus interconnect and memory interfaces such as SDRAM and DDR. Understanding of asynchronous interfaces, Linux OS, networking protocols (TCP/IP, UTP, CAT240), device trees, and device drivers. Familiarity with RF transceivers and prior radar system experience is desirable.
