About the Company
Founded in January 2025, Ocean Orchestra aims to be a force for good in ocean conservation and the ocean economy. Backed by leading SaaS, FinTech and Climate investors, this is an opportunity to apply modern tech to a huge global challenge. Oceans are 71% of our planet and central to climate health, yet receive only a fraction of the world’s investment, technology, and AI innovation. Ocean Orchestra is changing that.
Our founding team — Jeremy King , Simana Paul and others [we can happily introduce the other co-founder live; she’s amazing] — have built businesses to global scale. Now, we’re focused on creating lasting, positive change for our planet.
About the Role
Salary: £75K-£95K
Equity: Real ownership, significant upside potential.
Location: Remote-first overall, with regular in-person days in our London Victoria office. Wider remote or hybrid options very much available, with flexible arrangements for the right candidate. We have an office in London , for anyone who wants to work in an office.
: We actively welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We care about you - your skills, your values, your potential - what you can do, what you want to do, how you work, how you want to work. We believe diverse perspectives are essential to solving global challenges, so we're building a team that reflects the great of our real customers and users across the world.
What You’ll Do
Own our engineering stack from MVP to scale — backend, frontend, infra. Design architecture, choose tools, and set engineering standards. Work directly with early users to iterate quickly. Collaborate with the founding team on strategy, hiring, and scaling the tech team. Ship high-quality, user-focused features (that change Oceans and planet) fast.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of backend expertise in Go including API design, microservices architecture, gRPC/REST services, and database design (PostgreSQL, Redis). Frontend proficiency with React/Next.js, responsive design, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript Cloud infrastructure knowledge including AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. System architecture experience designing scalable, maintainable applications from ground up. Experience in building scalable maintainable low latency SaaS products. A track record of thriving in fast-moving environments that are full of ambiguity and opportunity. Expert in solving deep technical problems with customer outcomes top of mind. Ability to evaluate and make decisions based on a balanced assessment of key factors, including design, scalability, performance, technical debt and cost efficiency. Working highly collaboratively in a team environment.
What We Offer
Professional Impact & Growth
Build a high-impact platform from emerging MVP to global scale. Lead innovation tackling one of the world’s most urgent climate challenges. Shape both the tech and the company’s culture, processes, and values. Work directly with the founding team and early customers to make rapid, high-impact decisions.
Work & Life
Flexible work arrangements designed around your productivity and life (we really mean this). 25 days holiday plus public holidays (on top). Pension scheme with company contributions. Professional development budget (for conferences and growth; we want to invest in you). Regular team events and retreats (to help us continually grow together). On-site gym at the office included for everyone (it’s lovely).
