The Opportunity

The Grafana IRM squad operates a business-critical set of services that help Grafana and multiple organizations across the globe respond to incidents. Our mission is “We make it easy to detect, respond, and learn from incidents with minimal toil.” We have three functional squads within our team—frontend, backend and mobile—and our work is usually spread across the three functions. Our domain is large and constantly evolving. Our key values are unified experience, automation and integration, and Observability Native. We focus on providing an excellent customer experience with automation and integration to multiple third-party systems. Grafana IRM is trusted by major organizations worldwide and we encourage every team member to contribute ideas that shape our product into a dependable tool. What you will be doing includes contributing to roadmap influence, delivering new features, mentoring teammates, participating in design discussions, and learning the codebase of a large distributed system.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your own career objectives.
• Work with your team to deliver new features, then use the results to iterate and improve.
• Embrace our open-source culture and contribute to other projects that may not directly fall within your team’s scope.
• Mentor and support other team members, participate in design discussions and collaborate with the team.
• Learn new skills by gaining a deeper understanding of our cloud product and our customers and getting to know the codebase of a large distributed system.

What makes you a good fit

• Experience collaborating with Product, UX and designers to turn their designs into great user experiences.
• Technologies you will be working with: React, TypeScript, Webpack, Jest, Cypress, Go, Python (experience with similar languages is fine).
• Experience delivering projects from requirements to shipping in a self-driven way.
• Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud.
• Clean, robust, and maintainable code with good performance.
• Self-starter with a bias towards action and customer focus.
• Ability to ship incrementally and iterate based on feedback.
• Passion for creating intuitive products that fit customer needs.
• Pragmatism: break down complex challenges to deliver MVPs with short feedback loops.
• Strong collaboration and communication in a fully remote setup.

Bonus Points

• Experience as a Grafana/Prometheus user in operational roles.
• Exposure to microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with on-call and/or infrastructure as code concepts.

Compensation & Rewards

In the UK, the base compensation range for this role is GBP 89,000 - GBP 111,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). For other locations, pay ranges and benefits are discussed with the recruiter at the start of the process.
