OverviewAs a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering geotechnical design solutions and managing project deliverables across a range of geotechnical skills and disciplines.ResponsibilitiesDevelop design solutions and associated deliverables, drawing on geotechnical skills including foundation, slope, earthwork, and retaining wall design; collaborate with structural engineers on soil-structure interaction.Apply geotechnical knowledge to dam and reservoir engineering contexts.Manage geotechnical risk through desk studies, site investigations, geotechnical data management, and ground modelling.Supervise junior staff and provide technical and professional guidance to aid their development.Deliver packages of design work with collaboration from external and internal stakeholders, ensure quality control, coordinate inputs from team members, and travel to project sites when necessary.Advance the team\'s capability through technical excellence and digital innovation.Potential involvement in project commercial management and proposal delivery.Communicate the value of your work in the context of social outcomes.Longer-term career development paths include technical leadership, staff resource management, and client engagement. The position can be full-time or part-time, with an agile working policy expecting around 50% of time in stated offices, fluctuating as required.QualificationsA strong academic background, typically a Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology.Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).Experience in developing innovative geotechnical engineering solutions to current design standards; familiarity with the water sector and dam engineering is advantageous.Capability with foundation, slope, and retaining wall design software; experience with numerical modelling software and coding is advantageous.Experience implementing or constructing design solutions on construction sites.Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with staff at all levels and nurture junior staff.Ability and enthusiasm for supervising others, including check and approval of key deliverables.Project management skills and demonstrable technical leadership and collaboration capabilities.Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and WorkplaceWe are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, promoting fair employment practices and equal opportunities for all.
