OverviewThe M25 is a flagship project in the UK managed by a joint venture to widen, operate and maintain the road under a 30-year contract. The role is for a Senior Highways Engineer to join the Engineering team and undertake a variety of highway renewal designs on one of Europe’s busiest and most strategically important road networks. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with different teams effectively.Key responsibilitiesDevelop, review, and refine design packages including drawings and works specifications for renewal schemes (e.g., filter drains, network drainage, signage, fencing and VRS) aligned with asset management and client requirements.Prepare documentation to discharge duties of the CDM 2015 Principal Designer and create specifications for works.Apply quality management processes and manage output quality, ensuring standards and process compliance with the M25 DBFO Contract.Collaborate with technical specialists and commercial leads in the Engineering and CPS teams to achieve programmes and milestones; build strong cross-functional relationships.Provide progress updates, programme management, and reporting for assigned work.Schedule and chair performance, technical and commercial review meetings.Provide information to the commercial team to enable cost estimates.Qualifications / skillsBroad knowledge of Design, DMRB, MCHW, TSRGD and other highways standards.Experience of delivering highway design.Understanding of risk management principles.Minimum BEng / MEng (or equivalent) in civil engineering or related discipline.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Personal attributesProactive problem solvingExcellent communication skillsPresentation skillsTeamworking skillsAbility to prioritise and self-manageAbility to develop relationships and engender trustExperienceExperience at an intermediate level in design, delivery, or asset management of highways construction and maintenance operations or similarExperience coordinating interfaces with internal/external technical and commercial teams and external resourcesExperience managing projects through complete lifecycleAdditional InformationCandidates can apply even if they partially meet the requirements.
