Lead GenAI Engineer role within the KPMG UK Data & AI team, focusing on generative AI model development, AI transformation, and large-scale enterprise AI implementations. The role involves leading impactful AI initiatives, guiding cross-functional teams, defining AI strategies, and delivering solutions that drive tangible outcomes for KPMG and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead AI transformations and drive large-scale generative AI transformation projects across the organization and with clients, ensuring adoption of AI solutions that address critical business challenges.
  • Provide AI thought leadership to business stakeholders, advising on AI strategy, roadmap, and integration of generative AI technologies into business processes to drive value.
  • Technical leadership and collaboration: lead a team of AI engineers and data scientists, mentor junior team members, and ensure best practices in AI development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and architect robust, scalable AI systems that integrate generative AI models into complex enterprise environments.
  • Create proofs of concept, deliver minimum viable products, or fully-fledged projects, and deploy models into production.
  • Business development & practises building: work with business teams and clients to demonstrate AI potential and assess feasibility for solving business challenges.
  • Lead feasibility studies, develop data strategies, support RFP responses, and demo to prospective clients.
  • Ethical and secure AI deployment: ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations, implement best practices in data privacy, security, and ethical AI.
  • Contribute to KPMG’s body of knowledge in the deployment of fair and transparent AI models.
  • Research & innovation: stay updated with AI, ML, and LLM advancements, apply new methodologies, conduct research on new AI use cases, and publish findings internally.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: Degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics) is common but not strictly required; if you have a different degree or no degree but significant related experience, consider applying. Advanced AI/ML, cloud computing, or data engineering certifications are a bonus.
  • Work Experience: Strong background in AI/ML with expertise in developing and deploying generative AI solutions at scale; experience with foundational LLMs (e.g., GPT, BERT); expertise in AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), cloud-native solutions, and tools like Databricks and Snowflake; experience managing a wide range of stakeholders in complex environments.
  • Skills: Designing, coding, and optimizing generative AI models; prompt engineering for LLMs; understanding AI/ML algorithms and deployment in cloud environments; experience with Git, Linux, Docker, Hadoop, Spark, Elasticsearch; strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication; business development experience is a plus.
