Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Vacancy Reference: CLA-313. Position: Full-time. Location: Fonthill, Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK. Salary Range: £45,000- £50,000 per annum.

About The Role: Manufacturing Engineering is a key part of the rapid and dynamic development of World Class products, providing the interface between the Design and Production organisations to ensure all manufacturing departments have the tools, processes and instructions to build products to the design data in a repeatable and controlled manner. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides expert support, knowledge and engineering skill to deliver all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering within the development and production environment.
Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will be involved in activities including but not limited to:
- Develop and manage the Bill of Materials in line with the latest release of eBoM to ensure all parts of an aircraft or key assembly are identified and managed through the product lifecycle.
- Interpret engineering drawings to create/amend work instructions and identify processes, tooling and equipment to maintain delivery and quality standards.
- Lead the New Product Introduction process to support new products or modification programmes into production.
- Manage responses to production Non-Conformance (NC) and deliver containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Play a key role in Change Management, planning, developing and executing engineering changes.
- Early identification for new equipment and submitting CAPEX requests.
- Create production plans and shop layouts for new projects/requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Expert understanding of configuration management and production controls.
- Creation and validation of work instructions using CAD, PLM and ERP platforms.
- Creating specifications for new tooling and equipment.
- Selection and control of manufacturing processes for new assemblies (PFMEA).
- Validation of changes to Bill of Materials and extraction of mBom from eBom.
- Implementation of manufacturing plans for rate build, including work instructions for parts and assemblies.
- Providing standard timings for sub-assemblies and aircraft build for flow analysis and line balancing.
- Define technical specifications and support external suppliers for delivery standards of sub-contracted items.
- Manage NCs and resolve technical issues with other functions.
- Lead Continuous Improvement activities and support daily stand-up meetings and programme deliverables.
- Support full Quality Assurance to maintain ISO9001:2015 compliance.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Desirable: Engineering Degree or HNC/BTEC 5 and/or Aerospace Engineering Apprenticeship.
Skills and competencies
- Essential: In-depth aerospace industry experience; strong aerospace or high-performance vehicle manufacturing engineering experience; configuration management and production execution (eBom to mBom); creation of work instructions from design data in CAD, PLM and ERP; tooling and equipment specifications; PFMEA and risk management; RCCA; strong IT skills; attention to quality; continuous improvement mindset.
- Desirable: MRO and OEM experience; experience supporting R&D, prototyping, NPI; experience in unmanned or remote-controlled vehicles; hands-on assembly or composite materials experience; solving manufacturing efficiency or quality issues; Lean manufacturing methodologies.
