Overview

York-based building services design consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who is looking for a role in which you could operate at either Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer level or a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position.

The practice is notable; based on the outskirts of the city, they work for universities (student accommodation and teaching spaces), food retail (currently refrigeration replacements – focused on better solutions rather than like-for-like), and new-build care homes among others. Over the years they have updated their service offering and are embedded as part of their clients’ property teams.

As a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer with them, you will be fully involved with all aspects of design while being well supported in developing your skills.

You needn't be based in York as they have hybrid working in place with four days in the office and one day out. Proximity to the office is useful.

It is crucial that you have previously worked as a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer and that you are au fait with UK design codes and standards.

You are likely to be degree qualified, but more importantly you will need to be a rounded Mechanical Design Engineer happy to get involved with heating, air–con and vent design for large buildings.

Responsibilities

• Be involved with all aspects of mechanical building services design for large buildings.
• Contribute to project delivery and be supported to develop design skills.
• Engage with heating, air conditioning and ventilation design, including non-standard or improved solutions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer with familiarity with UK design codes and standards.
• Degree qualification typical; a well-rounded mechanical design engineer who can work across heating, cooling and ventilation.
