Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with Building Services to join a growing and forward–thinking building services consultancy. This role will play a key part in shaping the development of our presence across Scotland and the North East, with a particular focus on Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle.

Initially remote, this role will evolve into a hybrid model as we establish our new Glasgow office. Youll be instrumental in driving projects forward while contributing to regional strategy, technical delivery, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design across a variety of building services projects in commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and public sectors

• Oversee the delivery and coordination of work across the Glasgow/Edinburgh and Newcastle regions

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers and regional project teams

• Engage with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure high–quality service delivery

• Review and approve design calculations, specifications, and technical reports

• Contribute to the strategic growth of the business, including support for bid writing and client relationship development

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, legislation, and sustainability goals

• Collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a positive and innovative company culture

About You

• Degree–qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward Chartership

• Proven leadership in project delivery and team coordination

• Strong technical expertise with a practical understanding of HVAC, energy–efficient systems, and sustainable design principles

• Experience using design software such as IES, Hevacomp, Revit, and AutoCAD

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ability to work independently and support growth across multiple locations
