Job Description Mechanical Engineer — Water Industry (Design)

Overview:
A leading water sector consultancy is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver mechanical design solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities. You will work across concept, outline, and detailed design stages for critical water infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Produce concept, outline, and detailed mechanical designs for pumping systems, treatment equipment, pipework, valves, and rotating machinery.
Prepare detailed design calculations for pumps, flow/pressure, energy efficiency, and mechanical sizing.
Develop P&IDs, mechanical GA drawings, equipment schedules, and technical specifications .
Carry out pipework stress analysis, materials selection, and constructability assessments .
Review and coordinate 3D models , ensuring alignment with civil, electrical, and process design elements.
Undertake site surveys , condition assessments, and produce design reports with recommendations.
Support FAT/SAT , procurement specifications, and technical evaluation during tender stages.
