Role Summary:
We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of technically demanding engineering projects. This contract role offers the opportunity to lead mechanical design activities, perform detailed analysis, and contribute to multidisciplinary teams in a regulated environment. The position is expected to evolve into a long-term engagement based on performance and project continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical design and development from concept through to detailed engineering and delivery
Produce and review technical documentation including specifications, calculations, and engineering drawings
Conduct mechanical analysis including stress, thermal, and fluid flow assessments
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems into broader project designs
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
Support procurement, fabrication, and installation phases as required
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineersRequired Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally within nuclear, energy, or industrial sectors
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
Familiarity with relevant standards such as ASME, BS, ISO
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independentlyDesirable Skills:
Experience in regulated environments or nuclear safety cases
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards
