As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you play a vital role in our mission to modernise and enhance Thames Water's sewage treatment works. Your expertise is essential in delivering innovative, cost–effective, and resilient solutions that protect our communities, safeguard the environment, and preserve vital ecosystems. You'll also work closely with our contractors to ensure that all designs align with our technical requirements and quality standards.
What you'll be doing as a Senior Mechanical Engineer- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineers, asset management, and operations, to shape fit–for–purpose solutions balancing innovation, value for money, and resilience.
- Work extensively with consultants and contractors to support the delivery of large and complex capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and expectations to deliver safe, environmentally compliant solutions.
- Support Thames Water's 'triple zero' health, safety, and well–being vision by conducting audits and reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Identify and manage delivery risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to creating project briefs and respond to RFIs.
Hybrid working at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works. The successful candidate will be required on–site 2–3 days per week.
Working Hours36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in design and construction–related roles.
- Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
- Technical knowledge of pumping systems, mechanical package plants, and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop operational solutions.
- Salary from GBP55,000 to GBP65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- 26 days holiday, increasing to 30 with service, plus bank holidays.
- Contributory pension scheme (Maximum 12% employer contribution, 2x employee contribution).
