OverviewSenior Network Engineer - Blandford, Dorset. Unlike many alternative network providers, we design, build, and operate our own network—ensuring high-quality connections every time.As a Senior Network Engineer, you\'ll play a vital role in the ongoing growth and development of our network. You\'ll support daily planning, design, and configuration activities while serving as a 3rd Line escalation point for complex technical issues from our Network Engineering team. You’ll also contribute to strategic network design and the implementation of key infrastructure projects.What you’ll be doingAct as a 3rd Line technical escalation point for the NOC Manager and 2nd Line teamPlan and perform hardware and software upgrades across the networkProduce High-Level and Low-Level Designs for network projectsMaintain and update network documentation (Visio, Word, Wiki)Configure and install network hardware; implement protocol and infrastructure changesCollaborate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of network expansionProvide technical input for the Sales team during pre-sales activitiesPerform scheduled and emergency network maintenanceDeliver out-of-hours support as an escalation point for the 2nd Line and field teamsMaintain and update all network monitoring and management systemsAnalyse faults, troubleshoot issues, and resolve complex technical problemsWork alongside internal and external 3rd Line teams on root cause analysis and resolutionSupport the CTO in developing tools and services to improve network managementEnsure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal SHE protocolsOur ideal candidate will haveStrong experience in configuring and troubleshooting VLANs and Layer 2 networksIn-depth knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS)Skilled in Linux and scripting for automationExperience with Mikrotik and Juniper routers (desirable)Familiarity with VoIP technologies (SIP)Comfortable working independently in live production environmentsSolid background working in a service provider networkExcellent communication and customer service skillsProactive and solution-oriented team playerReliable, self-organised, and able to manage time effectivelyEager to learn and adapt to new systems and processesMust hold a full UK driving licence (12+ months)Desirable but not essentialMikrotik and Juniper router expertiseCCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional5+ years in a service provider environmentJNCIP-SP - Juniper Networks Certified Service Provider ProfessionalWhat we offerUp to £60,000 starting salary, dependent on experienceGenuine opportunities to progress—supervisory and team lead routes available25 days holiday + bank holidays, with the option to buy/sell up to 5 daysPrivate medical insurance, life assurance & income protectionCycle to Work & Tech purchase schemesEnhanced family leave policiesStaff broadband discount (75%)High street discounts on 100+ brandsSummer & Christmas team socialsReady to shape the future of rural broadband?
