Main Purpose of Role:
Assist with planning and coordination of the overall technical design and engineering implementation of project work. Responsible for assignments of a complex nature requiring comprehensive knowledge and skills. Can also plan, organize, and carry out engineering efforts in assigned areas, including determining new techniques to be used. Independently carry out advanced engineering studies.
Responsibilities:
Technical- Interpret and apply industry standards and codes (ASME B31.4/B31.8, BS PD 8010, IGEM/TD/1, API 5L, API 6D) affecting design work and project deliverables.
- Apply methods of design, fabrication, and construction, including pipeline material, wall thickness selection, valve specification and location, and use of pigging facilities.
- Produce complex deliverables such as scope descriptions, study reports, design criteria, detailed pipeline stress analysis models, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
- Check pipeline drawings for compliance with design basis and codes, including route maps, alignment sheets, crossing drawings, and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with pipeline routing software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Coordinate constructability and design reviews of 3D models and interface with other disciplines.
- Undertake vendor review, pre-qualification, bid evaluations, and participate in vendor meetings.
- Interface with other discipline staff as required.
- Ensure work complies with Penspen Group ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001.
- Supervise design work to meet statutory, company, client, and project requirements for integrity, safety, and robustness.
- Organize and prioritize discipline work tasks for self and team.
- Coordinate across geographic areas and with third-party design centers.
- Maintain awareness of project CTRs and manage time spent on deliverables.
- Improve design process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and regulators.
- Promote Penspen design standards and work practices.
- Liaise with clients to meet their technical needs.
- Assist in proposal preparation with technical expertise.
- Provide guidance on high-level engineering work for various projects.
- Understand contract requirements, including procurement and vendor review processes.
- Undertake site visits to facilitate design work and resolve issues.
- Mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
