Meet the team behind this journey

We have multiple closely related roles within our Platform Engineering group, including Platform Engineer (Foundations) and Platform Engineer (Platform).

• The Foundations team provides core building blocks for our internal platform, such as Kubernetes clusters, storage, load-balancing, and networking, ensuring stability, performance, and security both on-prem and in the cloud.
• The Platform team focuses on building and maintaining developer-facing platform features (e.g., managed databases, tracing infrastructure) and helping developers deploy, monitor, and scale their applications using tools like Helm, ArgoCD, and Prometheus on top of Kubernetes.

Your responsibilities

• Keep the foundations of our platform stable, performant, and secure
• Build and maintain platform features for developers (e.g., managed databases, tracing infrastructure)
• Write software to monitor platform components and automate manual work
• Work directly with other engineering teams to help them architect, deploy, and operate their applications
• Troubleshoot reliability, scalability, or performance issues in depth
• Handle incidents and participate in on-call rotations
• Increase platform security

Qualities we look for

• Good understanding of compute, storage, and networking
• Experience with Kubernetes and running services on Kubernetes (e.g., LGTM stack, Postgres, Kafka)
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Software engineering skills
• Good understanding of Linux and OS-level details
• Product-oriented mindset: passionate about building a platform that meets developer needs
• Ability to quickly learn about new technologies and work through ambiguous problems
• Excellent communication skills: able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Team player: thrive in a collaborative environment with peers and stakeholders
• Understanding of what it takes to build and deploy reliable, scalable, and maintainable applications in production environments

• Experience with running infrastructure in a hybrid on-prem/cloud setup
• Experience with hardening systems
