We are seeking a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join us ideally in Edinburgh (although Glasgow and Newcastle will be considered for the right candidate). Overview
As a geotechnical leader in our Ground Engineering Group, you will support team growth, provide project leadership, participate in geotechnical investigation campaigns, design structures and act as a technical reviewer. Your accomplishments and expertise will inform decisions and technical recommendations in support of our UK programmes, primarily in the energy sector with opportunities to support work in land development and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct large-scale geotechnical studies; identify and mitigate inherent risks.
- Manage complex technical situations and contribute to advancing the field by advising on and developing new methods, practices, and tools.
- Participate in staff leadership, coaching, and development; lead and/or contribute to service proposals.
- Support the development of the geotechnical engineering discipline within Stantec across the UK and Ireland.
- Support team growth and provide project leadership on geotechnical investigations and design tasks.
- Review technical work and provide clear, well-founded recommendations.
About You / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, geology, or a related field; preference for Master of Engineering (MEng) in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Extensive relevant experience, including substantial involvement in infrastructure projects.
- Chartered membership with a relevant organization (e.g., ICE or Geological Society) is preferred or candidate actively working towards chartership.
- Excellent technical writing skills for producing interpretative reports; proven experience in design and analysis of geotechnical structures; demonstrated leadership abilities in managing teams.
- Passion for delivering quality geotechnical solutions to clients.
