Senior Process Engineer – Battery Recycling

Auckland, New Zealand → West Midlands, UK

This is a unique opportunity to spend up to 18 months in Auckland before relocating to the UK. Join a landmark international R&D project developing a sustainable circular battery supply chain for electric vehicles, backed by the UK Advanced Propulsion Centre.

The role:

• Lead process engineering for a demonstration hydrometallurgical plant (black mass → refined metal salts).
• Deliver PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, equipment specs, and operating procedures.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and ensure safe, compliant design.
• Support commissioning, optimisation, and day-to-day operation.

You:

• Degree-qualified.
• 4+ years’ experience.
• Background in hydrometallurgy, minerals, or related processing.
• Strong scale-up, governance, and problem-solving skills.
