What you will be doing as a Senior Research Engineer/Scientist
- Leading research, development, and innovation initiatives.
- Leading project activities and providing innovative solutions to challenges in the water sector.
- Exploring new technologies and strategies for wastewater treatment.
- Launching and contributing to RD&I projects, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities.
- Analyzing data using tools like Python, MATLAB, or similar, and producing robust results and recommendations.
- Writing and reviewing technical reports for stakeholders.
- Presenting project outputs at meetings.
- Building relationships with internal and external partners.
- Promoting RD&I initiatives to stakeholders and clients.
This role is based at Reading Sewage Treatment Works, with a hybrid working model. Attendance at Thames Water sites may be required.
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A valid UK driving license is required.
What you should bring to the role
- A degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant industrial experience.
- Technical knowledge of utilities or related industries.
- Practical skills in operation and maintenance of pilot plants.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.

- Salary between £47,680 - £60,000 per annum.
- 26 days holiday, increasing to 30 with service, plus bank holidays.
