Senior Safety Engineer at Base Innovate

At Base Innovate we are dedicated to improving lives and the environment through power management technologies that are reliable, efficient, safe, and sustainable. We are looking for a System Safety Engineer to join our team in Wimborne, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of aerospace systems.

As a System Safety Engineer, you will conduct System Safety Assessments (SSA) to Military and Civil standards for air-to-air refuelling and actuation systems. You’ll collaborate with design and functional teams to ensure safety standards compliance and contribute to certification and airworthiness of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA) per ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, and other relevant standards.
  • Ensure design changes are assessed for safety impact and support classification of modifications.
  • Maintain compliance with CS 25.1309, DEF STAN 00-56, and other applicable regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance to engineering teams on safety-related issues.
  • Support certification and airworthiness activities, including engagement with regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all safety activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety processes and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a System Safety Engineering role or similar.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SAE ARP4754 and ARP4761.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced engineering environment.
