Overview

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve operations. We help improve safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power the global economy, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.

Working at Samsara means helping define the future of physical operations and being part of a team shaping product solutions such as Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As a recently public company, you’ll have autonomy and support to make an impact while building for the long term.

About the role

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United Kingdom. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

You should apply if

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: The software, firmware, and hardware you build will have real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, and ensure workers return home safely.
  • You want to build for scale: With over 2.3 million IoT devices deployed, you will work on technologies driving scalable innovation across industries that power the world’s physical operations.
  • You are a life-long learner: We pursue ambitious goals and encourage growth as you work with a wide range of technologies, challenges, and customers.
  • You believe customers are more than a number: You will have opportunities to participate in customer interviews, collaborate with customer success and product managers, and use metrics to drive customer outcomes.
  • You are a team player: Our engineering teams balance independent effort with collaboration toward the connected operations vision.

In this role, you will

  • Work with product managers, designers, firmware, and infrastructure engineers to design, build, test, and deliver end-to-end products
  • Develop skills across multiple technologies—Go, GraphQL, Typescript, JavaScript, React, and React Native. Direct experience with these technologies is not required
  • Solve real-life problems and optimize fleets globally
  • Coach, mentor and guide engineers in the team, supporting your own and others’ development
  • Maintain production systems owned by the team and provide operational support
  • Grow as an engineer in an engineering-first organization with room for progression
  • Participate in on-call rotation and outage investigations within the team’s domain
  • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles focused on customer success, long-term thinking, growth mindset, inclusivity, and teamwork

Minimum requirements for the role

  • Strong programming fundamentals in Java, Python, Golang, or Javascript
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale systems
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale application services
  • Ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver on project milestones with your team

An ideal candidate also has
