Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated data-aware Senior Engineer with a deep focus on software engineering and AWS technologies to join our dynamic Data Platform team. In this role, you will work on designing, developing, and optimizing our modern Lakehouse architecture that seamlessly integrates data ingestion, processing, and analytics. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure, high-performance, and configuration-driven data infrastructure, improving data availability and quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Building a modern Data Platform: Design and implement components of our Data Platform based on a Lakehouse architecture.
2. Develop tooling and services to support the efficient ingestion, storage, and processing of both structured and semi-structured data in a cloud-, cost-effective way.
3. Ensure data is organized, accessible, and ready for analytical use.
4. Implement robust data governance policies, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
5. Follow security best practices, including encryption, data masking, and access control mechanisms.

Software Engineering & Cloud Infrastructure:

1. Design and develop high-performance reusable data solutions leveraging AWS cloud services.
2. Develop maintainable, testable code to automate data processing tasks and workflows.
3. Contribute to the design and optimization of cloud-based data systems that scale to handle large volumes of data with minimal operational overhead.
4. Ensure reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability in data systems.
5. Build repeatable and automated deployments using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tooling.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

1. Work with data analysts, product, and engineering teams to understand their data needs.
2. Participate in code and design reviews, providing recommendations to team members.
3. Mentor junior data engineers, help set technical standards, and promote best practices.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

• Deep experience with AWS cloud services supporting Lakehouse architectures (e.g., Lambda, S3, Lake Formation, Kinesis, Glue, Step Functions, Athena, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, IAM policies).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, ideally using Terraform.
• Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of version control, code reviews, and collaborative development practices (e.g., GitHub, JIRA).

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Skilled in data querying with SQL.
• Experience using DBT in enterprise environments.
