What is Bitcoin DeFi: Bitcoin DeFi is about unlocking real utility for the world's most trusted digital asset without ever compromising user control. For developers and innovators, this means using Bitcoin in decentralized finance without handing BTC to a third party. Traditional custodial models rely on wrapped tokens and intermediaries, which conflicts with Bitcoin's core ethos of self-sovereignty and security.

What the role involves

As an experienced software engineer with a passion for Rust and a drive for technical excellence, you'll contribute directly to product development while championing quality engineering practices across the organization. As a senior member of the engineering group, you'll act as a mentor, problem solver, and technical leader—helping teams simplify complexity, adopt modern practices, and build innovative software at scale.

• Champion high-quality engineering practices and proactively tackle complex challenges
• Debug and resolve system-wide issues while driving observability and monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable iterative and scalable development
• Lead technical design, code reviews, and integration of software components
• Act as a go-to expert across multiple codebases, languages, and platforms
• Guide and mentor engineers, providing constructive feedback and technical direction
• Be proactive and require minimal supervision or mentoring to complete tasks
• Produce clear documentation to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing
• Ensure reliability of deployed products, including availability for critical support when needed

Requirements

Who you are:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of Rust in production
• Blockchain and Web3 knowledge, particularly UTxO experience (Cardano or Bitcoin)
• Experience with multithreading, peer-to-peer networking and distributed systems
• Proven expertise in Rust's ownership model, borrowing, lifetimes, and concurrency
• Strong knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming paradigms
• Experience with web services, REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and distributed systems
• Knowledge of Bitcoin core, Taproot Scripts and BitVM is a plus
• Experience with Multi-party computation and cryptographic libraries is a plus
• Practical experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and test-driven development
• Skilled in Git workflows, debugging, and designing scalable architectures
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
