Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + overtime payments
Location: You could be based anywhere south of Birmingham. You will need to be willing to travel to site up to 4 days a week, sites are across the Southeast.
This role will involve weekend/night work (overtime pay provided)
Interview process: 1 stage, highly technical interview
You will be joining a consultancy at a pivotal point, taking responsibility for the delivery of a new business stream dedicated to minor works and reactive maintenance inspections. This role has been created to formalise a fast-growing area of business and to reduce disruption to the main projects team.
As Senior Engineer, you will report directly to the Director and focus initially on hands-on technical and site delivery. The role will involve inspections, surveys, and design of strengthening works, alongside client liaison and management of suppliers. Over time, you will have the opportunity to progress into leadership and recruit junior support as the workload grows.
This role offers a clear path to Principal Engineer. You will initially be site-based, delivering works yourself, before building towards leadership and team management once the stream is established.
The Role
Undertake and manage Hidden Critical Element inspections, reactive maintenance inspections, condition surveys and dilapidation surveys.
Inspect civil and structural assets including bridges, stations, canopies, infrastructure buildings, etc.
Prepare inspection reports and support technical documentation.
Produce repair and strengthening designs for defective elements, including structural calculations, Designer’s Risk Assessments and assurance forms.
Produce or check drawings and models using AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or Revit.
Prepare project documentation including specifications, health and safety documentation and issue registers.
Manage project programming, cost tracking and delivery to meet time, budget and quality expectations.
Essential Requirements
Strong technical design skills with proven experience in a design consultancy environment.
Ability to deliver and check structural inspection and design outputs.
Valid UK driving license and own vehicle.
Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
Ability to obtain a PTS card.
A practical “doer” who can hit the ground running.
Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable with demanding site work.
Ambitious and keen to grow into a leadership role
