A little more about your role…
- Contribute in a senior role to the efficient and compliant delivery of all structural engineering design on the project, working with and reporting to the WSP Principal Structural Engineer and Lead Project Engineer.
- Ensure quality technical design delivery, technical governance, and coordination within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Provide day-to-day engineering design support, liaise with clients on structural engineering issues, and have design responsibility for parts of the structural works.
- Assist the Principal or Lead Structural Engineer in managing the structural design aspects of the contract, including financial management and team performance.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Preferably achieved ‘Chartered Engineer’ status, or be in final preparations for ‘Chartered’ review with a recognized professional institution.
- If through the ‘Apprentice route’, achieved ‘Incorporated Engineer’ status or be ‘EngTech’ qualified.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to prepare reports, design concepts, and presentations.
- Developed drawing and sketching skills for concept appraisals, feasibility studies, and final designs.
- Ability to solve structural engineering problems using traditional hand calculations and computer analysis, understanding their limitations.
- Knowledge of standards, codes of practice, and specifications relevant to projects.
- Understanding of properties and behavior of construction materials like steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Experience in construction techniques, site activities, and project sequencing, ideally through site experience.
