Senior Structural engineer
Location: Leeds
Salary: Up to £75K DOE

Are you a Senior Structural Engineer looking to further your career with a continuously expanding civil and structural engineering company? This is the perfect opportunity to take ownership of complex structural projects from concept through to completion within a dynamic multi-disciplinary consultancy. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver innovative and buildable design solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years' post-chartership experience, excellent technical knowledge, and proven project leadership skills. You will be a confident communicator, capable of mentoring junior staff and collaborating across disciplines to ensure high standards of delivery. Proficiency in leading structural design software is essential, alongside a genuine passion for the built environment and a deep understanding of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of structural engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of project engineers, graduates, and technicians.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apply excellent structural design skills using relevant software tools (e.g., TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, Fastrack Portal Frame, CADS Wall Panel, P Frame, MasterSeries Retaining Wall).
  • Manage multiple projects across different disciplines within a consultancy environment.
  • Mentor and lead junior team members, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Solve complex engineering problems with innovative and practical solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise presentations to clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, professionalism, and reliability throughout project delivery.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, "can do" attitude and strong commitment to teamwork.

What are we looking for

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent), with a minimum of five years' post-chartership experience in a relevant structural engineering role. Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and leadership within the industry.
  • Proven track record in successfully managing the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion. Able to coordinate and oversee design activities within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment, ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with client objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a wider design team, lead junior staff, and liaise confidently with clients, stakeholders, and external consultants.
  • Advanced structural design capabilities, with extensive experience using industry-standard software, including TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, Fastrack Portal Frame, CADS Wall Panel, P Frame, and MasterSeries Retaining Wall. Able to apply engineering principles to deliver innovative, buildable, and cost-effective solutions across a range of structural systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, combined with a genuine passion for the built environment and a clear understanding of the design, technical, and commercial aspects that drive successful project outcomes.
