At AKT II, you will gain the opportunity to work on some of the most interesting and complex buildings around the world with current complete projects in over 40 countries.Role and ResponsibilitiesReporting to Associate / Associate Director, as a senior engineer responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to the following:Carrying out structural surveys of building / desk studies and providing initial advice on any issues that may arisePreparation of detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notes using relevant 3D software packagesInterpreting the Client brief and assisting in preparing designs at all stages from scheme through to detailActing independently to investigate solutions, exploring options, working closely with partners and peers alike in order to develop and communicate design solutionsPreparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender purposesResponding to Client requests for informationAttendance at Design Team meetings with Clients, other design collaborators and communicating design ideas through sketches, models and presentationsAssisting in the production of Construction information for issue to ContractorsVisiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to ContractorsCo-ordinating design information with Engineers of other disciplinesWith the support of the Team Leader, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the teamWhere appropriate, facilitating and organising meetings and CPD training events to contribute to your own development and the development of othersSupporting and participating in AKT II’s Technical agendaDay-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the officeAttending team meetings with both internal and external disciplinesRequired SkillsSound knowledge of structural design in concrete and steel structures, as well as experience in other structural materialsExperience of working with Eurocodes and British StandardsA strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, combined with practical understanding of buildings and constructionThe ability to design and deliver structural solutions on major and/or complex projectsAptitude to work on your own initiative and be proactiveA desire to work constructively in a team, finding holistic building design solutionsA good understanding of multidisciplinary requirements into coordinated solutionsInquisitive, creative, solution-orientated designer.
