Job title: Senior Systems Engineer

Salary: Circa £54,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

• Participating in the Naval Combat Systems integration Support Service (NCSISS), trials and assurance activities
• Conduct shore and sea based trials as directed by the NCSISS management team, including: Linking, Integration and Acceptance trials and production of formal reports
• Take ownership of task planning, estimating and dynamic management when allocated as task lead in order to achieve delivery milestone
• Undertaking analysis in support of trials and recordings, and providing a suitable report with narrative to substantiate findings
• Keep abreast of Combat/Mission System advances and major system changes in order to remain current and competent
• Contributing in meetings, reviews and workshops as required by the customer and external stakeholders

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Experience of functional integration, systems trials and post trials analysis
• Experience in technical discussions with the wider team including external stakeholders

Desirable:

• Engineering experience in a defence related industry

• Hands-on technical experience in systems engineering including hosting environments, IT networking and virtualisation
• Knowledge of current and future Combat/Mission Systems architectures

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service (NCSISS) team:

As part of this role you will provide independent engineering Combat/Mission Systems advice for NCSISS Integration and Trials activities.

The MISC located on Portsdown Hill, is a specialist facility providing vital support for Royal Navy warships whilst researching future Combat Systems and Technologies. Shaped like a Type 45 destroyer, the MISC is a unique building that now benefits from new facilities including a state of the art visualisation suite.
