About the client

They are a specialist technical consultancy delivering bespoke software and data solutions for central government and critical public services. As their portfolio grows, they’re seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to join an active engagement within their Central Government team.

They tackle complex, non-standard problems and value fast learners who are adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working closely with stakeholders. The environment is friendly, team-oriented and delivery-focused.

Role and responsibilities

• Use a broad toolset, with a strong focus on open-source frameworks.
• Carry out manual and automated testing across UI and API layers.
• Work with DevOps and Agile practices (TDD, BDD, ATDD, continuous testing in CI/CD), complemented by exploratory testing where needed.
• Design and implement automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium/WebDriver with Java; JUnit/TestNG; Cucumber/BDD).
• Contribute to the wider QA community, proposing improvements to frameworks, tooling and process.
• Support non-functional testing as required (performance, security, accessibility, OAT).

About you / Qualifications

• Strong experience in Manual & Automation testing with Selenium and Java.
• Solid understanding of testing best practices, version control and CI/CD.
• Experience working in Agile teams; able to work autonomously and champion quality.
• Clear, confident communication with engineers, product and stakeholders.

Due to the sector, candidates must be able to obtain UK security clearance. This typically requires British citizenship and 5+ years’ continuous UK residency.

Location: Remote-first (UK) with bi-weekly visits to client site(s)
