We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wind Tunnel Model Systems Engineer to join The Cadillac Formula 1 ® Team at Silverstone. In this role, you'll be part of a group supporting the development and integration of wind tunnel model systems and technologies. Design & Development – Lead the design, integration, and testing of wind tunnel model systems (onboard and off-model), including instrumentation, data acquisition, control systems, and related rigs
System Setup & Operation – Oversee the installation, calibration, and operation of model systems and metrology equipment, ensuring class-leading testing performance
Problem Solving & Maintenance – Diagnose and resolve electrical, electronic, and mechanical system issues, maintaining high reliability and safety standards
Innovation & Process Improvement – Research and implement new technologies, methods, and measurement techniques to enhance aerodynamic testing capabilities
Collaboration & Documentation – Work closely with aerodynamic and performance engineers, maintain accurate technical records, and mentor junior team members
Requirements
Driven by high performance What do you need to bring to the team?
Proven experience with wind tunnel model systems, sensors, and motorsport testing environments
Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical assemblies, instrumentation, and metrology systems
Proficiency in fault-finding, problem-solving, and relevant communication protocols (e.g., CAN bus, EtherCAT)
Experience with programming tools such as LabVIEW, Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, or similar; PCB design skills advantageous
Knowledge of motorsport-standard data acquisition systems (e.g., Pi Toolbox, ATLAS) and strong IT skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines and travel as required
