Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading UK defence technology organisation, delivering advanced engineering solutions for naval and maritime applications. Their systems support critical missions across allied defence forces, with a focus on innovation, precision, and performance in the most challenging environments. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in complex enclosure design to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team working on cutting-edge maritime technology. The Role
Develop mechanical design concepts and feasibility studies for new and existing products Lead the design of complex enclosures used in subsea, naval, and defence applications Work closely with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to deliver integrated solutions Contribute to proposals and R&D initiatives that support future business opportunities
What You’ll Need
Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering Solid experience with 3D CAD tools – ideally Creo and/or AutoCAD Inventor Understanding of manufacturing methods for electrical enclosures (fabrication, machining, castings, welding, coatings) Strong grasp of materials selection and mechanical design under requirements like thermal, EMC, and shock Excellent communication skills and the confidence to present ideas and designs to stakeholders A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and shape future processes Security Clearance: You must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance
