*Type:* Part-time | Permanent (We currently need 20 hours per week, this demand will rise gradually as be install more units and business grows)
*Salary:* Competitive, based on experience
*Start Date:* ASAP

Poolpod is an award-winning accessibility solution that helps people with reduced mobility access swimming pools safely, independently, and with dignity. We're seeking a skilled, practical, and personable *Service Engineer* to support our network of Poolpod lifts across Ireland. Its clean and pleasant work mostly inside completed swimming pools, and occasionally on building sites. Probably more than half your time will be spent driving to sites.
*About the Role*
You’ll be the face of Poolpod across Ireland — maintaining, installing, and promoting a product that transforms lives. We currently support *~30 Poolpod lifts across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland*, and that number is growing.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Service and maintain Poolpod lifts (mechanical and electrical plug-and-play systems, no wiring panels or soldering, just plug and replace modules etc).
* Carry out straightforward installations (lifts ship to site full assembled, no wiring or panels) You do need to core drill holes in the pool deck and you will be trained in how to do this.
* Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and customer reports.
*Who We’re Looking For*
* Practical, confident with tools, and mechanically minded.
* Comfortable with basic electrical diagnostics (plug-and-play modules, no live wiring). Use of a multi meter to check voltages at various points.
* Reasonable communication skills and a customer-friendly approach.
* Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
* Competent with smartphones/tablets (for diagnostics and reports).
* Based ideally near the *Dublin–Belfast corridor* (e.g. Dundalk, Newry, Drogheda).
* Full clean UK or Irish driving licence.
*What Makes the Job Easy and Enjoyable*
* *Installations are simple*: Lifts ship fully assembled and pre-commissioned. You just drill two holes and resin bond the anchors — no electrical hookup required.
* *Maintenance is straightforward*: Most electrical parts are modular and plug-in. Our new lifts use Bluetooth diagnostics; older ones are serviced by part replacement.
* *Not too urgent compared to some service engineer roles*: All Poolpods are fitted with *manual overrides*, so *getting stuck in the lift is not an issue*. We aim to respond to breakdowns within *2 working days* so there are no night call outs etc.
*Training *
* Full training delivered on-site across Ireland during your first 6 weeks, phone backup from Glasgow available as required (you will be talking to us every day).
* Initial visit to our *Glasgow HQ* to meet the team and learn the ropes.
* Annual visit to Glasgow for team events (including the Christmas party).
*Benefits & Perks*
* *Private Health Insurance (Vitality)*: Covers inpatient care, physio, and wellness.
* *Modern Berlingo Van (3 seats)*: Personal use allowed with a charge per mile.
* *Tools, equipment, and workwear*: All provided and purchased by the company.
* *Flexible working*: Concentrate your hours into one day so that you can take long weekends or spread them out to enable other commitments. You must also be mindful of the effect on the business, for example travelling to Cork from Belfast will likely may mean an overnight stay and it maybe more sensible and efficient to visit multiple sites down there once the trip has been made.
* *Work-life balance*: You’ll help manage your own schedule around your lifestyle, as well as the needs of the company.
* *Meal provisions*:
* *Lunch provided daily*
* When staying away overnight, *breakfast, lunch and evening meal* are included up to sensible limits.
* *Hotels provided* when required for travel.
* *Extra holiday day* on your birthday.
* *Sabbatical leave* after 6 years of service.
* Company mobile phone, laptop and tablet included.
*Why Join Poolpod?*
This is more than just a service role. It’s a chance to:
* Support a *life-changing innovation*.
* Work *independently* but be part of a warm and supportive team.
* Travel around beautiful parts of Ireland, meeting people who value what you do.
* Enjoy genuine flexibility and room to grow.
