We have an exciting opportunity for a SharePoint & Low Code Engineer to join our IT team in Belfast. 

The core of the global technology department’s mission is to provide stable, reliable, and secure platforms and services to our partners, staff and clients and fulfil our regulatory obligations across 30+ countries. To ensure that a consistent and standardised IT service is delivered to all offices, IT is managed and led as a global function, enabling all offices to benefit from complete systems integration and economies of scale. We have around 400 technologists based predominantly in the UK, Singapore and increasingly in the US. 

The Team - Enterprise Architecture and Technology Platforms 

To develop and maintain the firm’s technology strategy and enterprise architecture. In parallel, own, improve and simplify the firm’s key technology ‘building blocks’ by designing, building and managing the core technology platforms which are fundamental to delivering strategic business goals.

Reporting to the Knowledge & Productivity Platforms Architect the role will design, develop, and support SharePoint-based intranet and other knowledge solutions, leveraging low-code tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and AI-powered agents to deliver automation, workflows, and enhanced user experiences. The role ensures the firm’s collaboration and knowledge platforms are secure, scalable, and optimized for efficiency and innovation.

What you will do
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, Knowledge teams, and IT to gather and analyse business requirements and user feedback.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, Knowledge teams, and IT to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver enhancements for the A&O Shearman Intranet and other Knowledge Tech solutions. 
  • Support and enhance SharePoint-based intranet and knowledge solutions, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance. 
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom solutions and features (webparts) in SharePoint Online, using SharePoint Framework, Power Platform, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Implement AI-driven features such as chatbots, intelligent forms, and automated content classification to improve user experience. 
  • Ensuring solutions meet the highest standards of usability, accessibility, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues or bugs related to SharePoint Online custom solutions.
  • Monitor platform performance and usage, troubleshoot issues, and provide ongoing support and optimization. 
  • Document solutions and provide training to end-users and administrators. 
  • Stay current with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and low-code platform innovations, recommending improvements and best practices. 
  • Develop working relationships with stakeholders from other IT teams to contribute to the overall goals of the function. 
  • Performance management or mentorship of junior team members as required; ensuring alignment with HR standards and policies. 
  • Support vendor management processes for Knowledge Technology platforms.

  • What you will have 

    Experience: 
  • Proven experience in SharePoint Online development and administration within a Microsoft 365 environment. 
  • Strong expertise in low-code tools: e.g. Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio or other low-code tool-sets. 
  • Experience with SharePoint customization (e.g., SPFx, JSON formatting, site design) and integration with other systems via APIs. 
  • Understanding of AI and automation in business processes (e.g., chatbots, intelligent workflows). 
  • Knowledge of security and compliance in a legal or regulated environment, including permissions and data governance. 
  • Desirable: Experience with scripting (PowerShell), Microsoft Graph API, and familiarity with agile delivery methods. 
  • At least 3 years background in the IT industry.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working in global, cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. 
  • Good commercial and financial acumen with strong numerical reasoning skills. 
  • Ability to produce clear, concise documentation and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and help others to develop in their jobs.
