full-time, permanent Reports to: Engineering Team Leader / Managers Overview of the Role: We are seeking a skilled Shift Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. The role involves supporting proactive maintenance and responding to breakdowns across two sites, operating on a rotating shift pattern (06:0014:00 / 14:0022:00). You will also provide weekend cover on a call-out rota basis. This position plays a vital part in minimising downtime, increasing efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement across our operations. Youll work closely with production teams to ensure assets perform to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. Key Responsibilities: Provide first-line electrical and mechanical maintenance support across manufacturing. Attend machinery breakdowns and ensure accurate reporting on the CMMS (Shire). Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and project work. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Maintain high safety and GMP standards across all work. Assist with machinery installation, commissioning, and decommissioning. Liaise with contractors, issue permits (where trained), and manage spare parts requirements. Contribute to team development by coaching, training, and knowledge sharing. Cover for the Engineering Team Leader when required. Key Skills: Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Computer literate (Microsoft Office, mobile devices). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Organised, reliable, and self-motivated. Ability to work independently or as part of a team under pressure. Strong awareness of Health & Safety and a commitment to safe working practices. A continuous improvement mindset, open to learning and development. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: GCSE/O Level grade C or above in Maths and English. Time-served engineering apprenticeship. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent ONC/BTEC in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering). 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Strong organisational and planning skills. Ability to read and understand technical drawings. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and numerical skills. Desirable: HNC qualification. Experience in FMCG or regulated environments. Working Hours & Remuneration: Shift pattern: MondayThursday: 06:0014:00 / 14:0022:00 Friday: 06:0012:00 / 12:0018:00 Weekend cover (rota basis): Call-out maximum once every 4 weeks post-probation, with 12 hours paid cover for both Saturday and Sunday (total 24 hrs). Average hours: 38 per week (plus weekend rota).
