Location: Faversham

Salary: £52,997 + shift allowance which will be applicable following probationary period

Shift Patterns: 4 on 4 off shifts - you will work a rolling pattern of 4 days 6am–6pm and 4 nights 6pm-6am

We are seeking an experienced, multi-skilled Electrical or Mechanical Engineer to join our Site Maintenance Team to provide first-class engineering for on-site machinery. As a Site Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the site and site sortation system. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the heart of our busy operation, ensuring a 100% safety standard is embedded in everything you do.

This role is vital in ensuring that all engineering activities support the strategic objectives of the business, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

  • What you’ll be doing

  • Performing all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on site automation systems, ensuring work is completed in line with required standards and documentation to maintain optimal site performance.
  • Responding to breakdowns and reactive maintenance requests promptly, safely, and to a high standard.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults accurately across automation systems and wider site infrastructure.
  • Taking a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in systems and processes.
  • Conducting both reactive and proactive repairs and improvement works across the site, including plant and equipment.
  • Accurately recording all maintenance activities and equipment downtime in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring clear communication of technical information and outstanding work to other shifts and relevant managers.
  • What you’ll need

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of automation systems and experience with PLCs and logic systems
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification – if you do not have this training will be provided
  • Experience working with conveyor and sortation machinery
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and maintenance documentation
  • Previous experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment
  • Experience working in a unionised organisation
  • Proven ability to identify and evaluate technical issues and risks, and develop innovative solutions
