Salary: £47,683+ Depending of skills and experience
What You’ll Be Doing
- Engaging with customers and stakeholders to capture business needs and solution requirements
- Capturing the as-is and to-be application, data and technology architectures for multiple projects
- Defining the solution options and then working with the Solution Architect to achieve the optimum design to meet customer requirements
- Liaising with the Product Owner, suppliers, COTS vendors and sub-contract development teams
- Supporting solution delivery through adoption of adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches
- Working closely with the wider development team to ensure consistency and integrity of the solution
- Working effectively with Project Managers to support the development of the project plan, identifying the key tasks, dependencies, risks and mitigations
Essential
- Previous experience in Software Engineering Role
- Degree or equivalent in Software Engineering/Computer Science
- Excellent Software Engineering skills, with a solid foundation in one of C/C++/C#/Ada/.NET
- Practical experience of developing embedded software
- Demonstrated understanding of the full software development lifecycle
- Experience of requirements capture and traceability
Desirable
- Experience in different areas of testing / unit testing

The Software Engineering team
The purpose of this role is to lead the programmes of the Business Systems Competency Centre, driving the delivery of high-impact initiatives that enhance organisational capability.
In this role, you will define, manage, and lead programmes of capability development across multiple business functions, ensuring seamless IM&T integration across the Competency Centre and operational teams. You will draw on solutions and resources from IM&T service lines and other competency centres to deliver innovative, effective, and scalable outcomes.
As a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of products, creating software solutions for internal stakeholders. You will be involved in the full product lifecycle—from design and development to integration and deployment. Collaborating closely with systems engineers and test engineers, you will contribute to the delivery of multi-layered, real-world solutions that have tangible impact on business operations.
