This role is central to ensuring our products meet the highest standards by designing and implementing maintainable test automation frameworks and contributing to the development of clear, detailed test documentation.Typical activities include:Define and maintain Test Strategies, Test Plans, and Test Cases aligned with project requirements.Design and implement automated test solutions using frameworks like Robot, PyTest, or Selenium.Execute exploratory, functional, regression, and performance testing on software and hardware components.Collaborate with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure test integration into CI/CD pipelines.Test and validate COTS and custom-built hardware platforms, including using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes.Conduct API testing using appropriate tools and methods.Track and report test metrics, including coverage, defect rates, and test outcomes.Review and provide feedback on technical documents, including requirements and architecture specs.Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.Identify quality risks early in the development process and support their mitigation through comprehensive testing.Skills & ExperienceSource Code Management tools (Git, SVN, Mercurial).Test methodologies (TDD, BDD, exploratory testing).CI/CD tools and platforms (e.g., GitLab CI).API and performance testing tools and techniques (including load/stress testing).Operating systems and environments (Linux, Docker, virtualisation tech like Firecracker).Network and security fundamentals (IP addressing, routing, encryption, certificates).Hardware testing using electrical diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters).Documentation and communication—ability to create and review technical documentation for internal and external audiences.Qualifications and Eligibility CriteriaTo be eligible for this position you must:Strong experience in designing and implementing automated test solutions using frameworks such as Robot Framework, Selenium, or PyTest; andBe an British citizen; andHold or be eligible for NSV – DV (please see the gov.uk for guidance)Please Note: This role involves participating in an on-call roster and occasional after-hours work to support business and client requirements.
