Overview

I'm recruiting for severak Test Engineers to join my client based in North Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on exciting mission critical technologies that help keep people on the front line connected in high pressure situations. You'll be involved in a wide variety of projects, ranging from bespoke mobile applications and server side configuration to cloud based systems.

Location and security

You'll need to be happy coming into the Bristol office three days a week, and due to the nature of the work, you must either hold a British passport or have been a resident in the UK for the past five years, as employees are required to undergo security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Initially focused on manual testing across a range of mobile and web apps, integrating with hardware and cloud based systems.
  • Join a collaborative test team made up of both permanent staff and contractors, working across multiple engineering teams.
  • Drive quality and process improvements, champion best practices, and collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure requirements are testable, realistic, and clearly understood.
  • Involved across the full test lifecycle, from planning and execution through triage and issue resolution, reporting testing outcomes clearly and effectively.
  • Support customers during acceptance, release, and deployment phases.
  • For those with more experience, opportunities to coach and mentor colleagues and promote a culture of collaboration and quality.

Qualifications and skills

  • Solid background in manual testing; ideal world experience testing hardware or connected devices.
  • Mindset focused on curiosity, commitment, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to contribute to automation efforts as the team grows.
  • Experience across projects that integrate software with hardware systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with scripting (Python or Kotlin) and CI/CD environments such as Jenkins or GitLab.

Perks and compensation

Roles are available from mid-level through to senior with salaries ranging from £40,000 up to £65,000 depending on experience.
